Gé · Revolution
Upper trigram: ☱ Lake · lower trigram: ☲ Fire
The molt, the shedding of the skin; people believe in it only once it is accomplished. To reform on the right day erases regret.
The ancient ideogram shows an animal hide freshly shorn and stretched in the sun to be tanned and transformed into supple, resistant leather, joined to the sign of fire modifying the structure of matter. "Ge" symbolises radical change of a qualitative order, the moulting of the caterpillar into the butterfly, and the necessity of overturning the old order of things when it has expired.
The great upheaval and the change of skin
This hexagram describes a phase of major historical or personal rupture (a radical change of career, a life break-up, the total restructuring of an enterprise). The old system has had its time; it has become sterile and obsolete. The situation demands a complete revolution, a visible metamorphosis accepted by all, which can no longer be deferred.
Choose the right moment and found trust through the word
The strategy of revolution rests entirely on the sense of timing: "When the day comes, then trust is established". Do not act prematurely; wait until the necessity of change is evident to all. The Accomplished Being clarifies the calendar, communicates their intentions with total transparency, and cuts to the quick to eliminate the abuses of the past, creating a new order that is just and sustaining.
From a structural point of view, the figure joins the trigram of Light/Fire (Li, consciousness, clarity) below to the trigram of the Marsh/Water (Dui, fluidity, destruction) above. Fire and Water fight and transform each other in violent hand-to-hand combat. The challenge for the consultant is to pilot this metamorphosis with discernment so that chaos does not carry the day.
