A dark force returns from below; an unexpected encounter. Do not wed what imposes itself too strongly.
The ancient character depicts a queen or a powerful woman coming to meet the emissaries of the four regions of the world, or the breath of the wind slipping beneath the celestial vault to fecundate the soil. "Gou" symbolises the chance encounter, the sudden irruption of the unexpected, and the subtle yet vigorous return of the Yin force at the base of the situation.
The irruption of the unforeseen or destabilising element
This hexagram describes a delicate situation in which a new force — seductive, but potentially corrupting or destabilising — penetrates from the bottom of your structure (an easy temptation, an ambiguous proposal, the return of old habits). The element seems insignificant at first, but it possesses an immense power of infiltration capable of subverting the whole of your Yang gains.
Exercise extreme vigilance and do not commit
The message of the Yi Jing is a warning of rare severity: "The maiden is powerful; one must not unite with her". The strategy consists in spotting this infiltration immediately and refusing any compromise or alliance with this force. Do deep inner work to stand firm on your principles, and warn those around you of the latent danger before it is too late.
Energetically, the figure superposes the trigram of Wind (Xun, supple penetration) below, beneath the trigram of Heaven (Qian, rigidity, authority) above. The Wind slips beneath Heaven, shifting structures noiselessly. It is the return of Yin. The challenge for the consultant is not to be blinded by the apparent seduction of the moment, using firmness to protect their integrity.
