The ancient ideogram represents an elephant gambolling joyfully, joined to hands waving weaving shuttles to give a regular and harmonious cadence. This visual aggregate expresses the awakening of latent forces, the exaltation of the spirit and the setting of energies in motion through rhythm. It symbolises the power of imagination and emotional momentum capable of lifting the masses — on condition of being channelled.
The surge of creative and emotional momentum
This hexagram describes a phase of overflowing vitality, sudden inspiration or collective exaltation. It is the moment when an idea or a project arouses strong emotional adhesion, creating a climate of fervour and shared joy. Energy is abundantly available for starting reforms or launching initiatives, but this force is by nature volatile and risks running idle if it is not anchored in a concrete reality.
Structure the momentum and give it a lasting rhythm
The imperative counsel of the Yi Jing is not to let this exaltation dissipate into sterile agitation or a mere "flash in the pan". Desire or superficial enthusiasm cannot stand in for long-term strength. Thunder bursts with a crash above the Earth, shaking it and waking it from its winter lethargy. However, analysis of the nuclear hexagram brings to light Obstruction (hexagram 39), acting as a crucial warning: at the heart of this enthusiasm hides a major obstacle linked to a lack of real Yang forces (the figure has only one Yang line, in fourth place).
